Palberta - You Did Palberta - Pharmacy Palberta - Take You Away Palberta - Na Na Palberta - Call Me Palberta - Maestro's Minestrone Palberta - Girls Old Table Cover Born in the kitchen of some stranger's house and concieved of over many bowls of pasta and lentils, Chips for Dinner is the gurgling brain child of New York's weirdest. Palberta and No One and the Somebodies feel right at home together, joyously dishing out sonic absurdities and displaying a clear mutual influence on each other's work.
Four brothers from Westchester County and three thick-as-thieves friends living in the Hudson Valley have concocted a real musical treat for all lovers of the playful and strange. Their subject matter ranges from brazenly goofy non sequitors to thoughtful political analysis, and they approach both with just as much energy. Equally unhinged and anthemic, they deliver healthy doses of guitar- induced frenzy and and bizarrely gorgeous melodies, offering an accurate spectrum of the NOATS sound.
The unabashed, visceral fun at the core of this band has left an indelible mark on the New York underground, encouraging many basement dwellers to follow in their footsteps. Go to the old Top charts. Mathy tendencies, blended with or juxtaposed to uncoordinated melodies and slacking moments, come together to somehow build a sound that kinda makes sense, in particular for those music fans that are still in search of unusual music that defies categorizations.
Not new to the scene, One and the Somebodies released their debut album in , and their latest a split album with Palberta in the summer of You can see them live at Sunnyvale on March 1st. Day 3 ended up being my Brooklyn band day.
Somehow I ended up seeing all the bands I see play all the time, which might not be in the spirit of CMJ but, whatever fuck you by the way for criticizing me. I did get to see a bunch of bands I had been meaning to see for a long time; I'll stop talking now lets just get on with it already. This is a preview of the new Deli charts - we are working on finalizing them by the end of Go to the old Top charts Cancel.
